When your website is complete and has gone live on the Web,
the next step is Website Promotion.
Website promotion comprises the range of strategies and activities developed and undertaken to increase the number of Web users who visit a given site.
When promoting a website, we we first optimize the website title, site description, and keywords while ensuring that the site has important and useful content, and is easily navigated by visitors and search engine "crawlers" or "spiders," the computer programs used to search the Web.
We then utilize sitemapping technology and robot files to direct Google and other search engines to the pages you want visitors to your site to see.
Major search engine spiders search the Web continuously and find new sites regardless of whether or not the sites are formally submitted to the search engine companies.

Case Study: Promoting Buffet21.com
Restaurante Buffet 21 is a "tenedor libre" or All You Can Eat restaurant in the Pocitos-Biarritz neighborhood in Montevideo, Uruguay. Buffet 21 needed to attract visitors to its site and customers to its restaurant. They did not want to wait for the search engines to spider the site when they got to it. Nor did they have the time to write articles, post to blogs, or put up videos.
Enter Google AdWords. AdWords is a "pay-per-click" service offered by Google, allowing websites to submit short ads which are displayed in the upper right-hand corner of the search results page (Box "1" on the page reproduced above.) Ads appear when users search on terms specified by the website placing the ad and the website's bid is sufficient to allow the ad to appear. Additional information on AdWorlds is available on our FAQ page.
We created an AdWords campaign for Buffet 21 that bid on Spanish search terms related to their restaurant and including either Montevideo, Pocitos, or Biarritz. Next, we made the campaign location specific. We restricted the target audience by allowing the ad to appear only in Spanish language searches. Later we restricted the campaign to searches conducted in Uruguay.
The Buffet 21 AdWords campaign put the site at the top of the listings from the first day it went live for a cost that rarely exceeded 15 cents per click. Within the first month, the site rose to the second and third positions out of some 1,640 on the natural search list ("2") for searches in www.google.com.uy on, in any order, "tenedor libre Montevideo" ("all you can eat Montevideo"), "tenedor libre Pocitos", "tenedor libre Biarritz", "comida china Montevideo" ("Chinese Food Montevideo"), "comida china Pocitos" and so forth. Although Buffet 21's Google AdWords ad rarely runs anymore, the site still places second and third for "tenedor libre Montevideo" out of over 1,660 results.
Although Buffet21.com's ads never appeared in United States-based Google searches, the site now places second and third in a search on "tenedor libre Montevideo" in google.com searches conducted here as well. In addition to occupying second and third place, the seventh site listed links to a "review" of the restaurant that I wrote in an English-language travel website.
A successful Good AdWords campaign will:
As you can see, obtaining a top-tier listing in organic or natural search engines takes time and effort. You want results now, not someday. We therefore recommend a paid submission to the Yahoo directory and cost-effective, focused paid search campaigns to get your site the exposure it needs now.
Most business is local in nature. More and more, Web users are searching for driving directions, employment listings, recreational opportunities, and local shopping. Local search is still a new area in the search matrix, but it is an area with which we are very familiar. If local search best fits your business goals, then that's where we focus our promotional campaign.
There's much more to know about Search Engine Optimization than we have room for here. But quite possibly, the information on this page is more than you wanted to know. If, however, you would like more information on this topic, we recommend the Wikipedia Search Engine Optimization article.
Your website is an important promotional tool. It also represents a significant investment. Failing to promote your company's website would be analogous to designing a three-color direct mail brochure, having several thousand of them printed, and then not mailing them to your customers.
Let Prestige Web Solutions promote your company's website. We'll make sure that your website promotion budget is money well spent.
