The Web is supposed to be all about immediacy. Some website information, the square footage of hotel suites, for example, never changes. On the other hand, news of sales and other events, restaurant specials, unexpected price drops, and special shipments is highly time-sensitive and needs to be posted to your websites right away. As your webmaster, we can give you the tools you need to easily update the content on your site.

At the same time, for your protection and to avoid unnecessary website down time, we do not provide direct FTP access or any other facility to delete, create or modify entire pages. This prevents the inadvertent deletion of html and script files, avoiding all kinds of potential website disasters. What we enable is the modification of specifc blocks of text in the site. We do this by providing a password-protected page on your site on which you can make changes to your site.

For similar reasons, we do not provide clients with image-upload capability. Image files can be very large and digital photographs are the worst offenders. Unless optimized, photographs and other graphics can slow the loading and responsiveness of pages containing the images to a crawl. To prevent this, we ask that you email digital image files to us for prompt optimization and inclusion on your site. Will you take care of hosting the site? If so, how much will it cost? Our responsibility does not end when your site goes live on the Web. Because your site's ongoing viability and functionality is important to us, we at Prestige Web Solutions prefer to manage your hosting. This way, we retain control over your website's back end, look and feel, and, except to the extent that you update it yourself, your site's content. As host, we can monitor site activity to make sure the site operates correctly.

Our company name is on your site, along with a link to our homepage. Your site can be either our best advertisement or...the opposite. If I complete your site in January and your homepage is still wishing visitors Happy New Year in July, you look bad, but so do I. For that reason, we offer our design clients a hosting deal that is too good to refuse. As noted on our Rate Sheet, our hosting prices are more or less equivalent to other quality hosting companies, but our monthly hosting fee includes, depending on the hosting plan, up to three hours of update services per month. How much do you charge for maintaining and updating the site? After your site is completed, it will still need to be maintained and updated. If Prestige Web Solutions hosts your site, up to three hours of monthly maintenance and update services are included in your hosting fees, depending on the hosting plan you select. The included hours can be used for maintenance and update services or for putting up new pages. Hours do not carry over from month to month, as we offer them to encourage you to keep your site timely now, and not have to play catch-up in six months. Back to Top.
