How much will it cost me to have a website? Let me start by saying that, as a website visitor and online consumer, nothing is more irritating than a website that sells stuff but hides the prices until the last second. For that reason, I have posted a rate sheet here.
Until I know what your website project entails, I have no way to know how much time and effort it will require. Naturally, what it will cost to build your site is directly related to its size and scope. I can assure you, however, that the price we quote you is the price you are going to pay, not a penny more.
As a rule, web design firms work for between $60.00 and $125.00 per hour. While an hourly rate works for specific, self-limiting tasks, an entire Web project may seem to a client to be potentially completely open-ended. Clients want to know and, I feel, have a right to know, how much a project is going to cost them. To this end, we set prices per project, not per hour. You will know up front precisely what services are being provided and exactly what our fee will be.
For convenience, we have divided business websites into four categories: Business Basic, Small Business, Medium Business, and Enterprise. Our Rate Sheet lists the fee structure for each category, along with expenses suchn as the annual fee for registering and renewing domain names (.com, .net, .org, .us, .info, .co.uk, .com.uy, etc.) and monthly hosting charges for each size category.
We will provide you a payment schedule -- the percentage of the total design fee, usually 25%, required to retain our services, the percentage due when the proofs are ready, and the percentage due on completion, along with a written contract to ensure that we are at all times on the same page. Back to Top.
How is it that some websites quote fees considerably lower than yours? I assume you are speaking of design firms that advertise websites for "$300 and up" or "From $99" -- that kind of thing. It's like ads for a complete living room "from $300" or for cars "$99 and up."
You would have to be building an extremely simple website for it to cost $99.00 or even $300.00. Basically, anyone who quotes a fixed price for a website, as if they were selling a shirt or a pair of glasses, either is selling a template or "pre-fab" site with very little customization or is only telling part of the story. Remember the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true...." Back to Top.
Why do the prices quoted for website design vary so widely? Websites vary in price just as cars, homes, clothing, and even razor blades do. The lowest-priced sites are built from templates that the designer and probably fifteen other designers each have used ten times before. As a general rule, a more innovative design and more original content will increase a site's cost, but also its value in terms of Return on Investment. Back to Top.
Does Prestige Web Solutions offer discounts? YES! Prestige Web Solutions offers discounts to registered non-profit organizations. Back to Top.
Is there anything we can do to reduce our cost? Yes, there is. First, we need to make sure that you have not requested features whose expense exceeds their value. We will discuss this with you to ensure that every element of your site relates to your business goals.
You can reduce the cost of your site even further by providing relevant site content. You can write short articles or obtain permission to reproduce materials prepared by your vendors. You can can provide logos, photographs, other material that you would like to use on your site. The more content you provide, the less creative content we have to develop or purchase for your site. This will result in considerable savings to your business. Back to Top.
