What do you mean, I have to know what my site should do? How am I supposed to know this kind of stuff? I mean, if I knew what kind of website we wanted, would I need to be talking to a guy like you?
Hardly a day goes by without a conversation that starts like this. We've lived in houses all of our lives and have had cars all of our adult lives, so when we go to a car dealer or real estate office we have a pretty good idea what we're looking for. It's very different with websites, though.
Most people have never had a website and, so, don't know what questions to ask a designer or what information a designer will need from them.
So what does that all mean for you? In a phrase, it means that hiring a web design firm does not end your involvement in the process.
At the same time, we know that to design an appropriate and functional website for your company, we need to ask the right questions and provide the examples you need.
No Geektalk spoken here. Our worksheets are in plain, everyday English (as are our contracts, by the way.)
We begin the design of your website by evaluating several considerations.
web design team. If goal-setting is analogous to telling a realtor how many bathrooms you need, allocation or hardware and software resources is like the plumber connecting the pipes. Not your problem.
The target audience. Who must your site appeal to? is yours a conservative clientele that would be put off by anything but the most subdued colors? Does your business appeal to young professionals? Families? Sportmen? As with goals, we'll need your input on this one.
Website content. Whether for improving search engine ranking or for creating the best site possible, content is king. For search engine purposes, original content is king. Anything unoriginal is likely to get you penalized. And you don't want your customers or prospects to visit your site and see your name and logo but the exact same layout and graphics as a site they visited yesterday.
The purpose of your website may be to attract customers into your store[s] or restaurant[s]. Perhaps your goal is to sell online (eCommerce.) You may want to increase brand awareness, to publish a catalog or other information for customers, or to provide information to employees or distributors.
Or, perhaps your goal is the cost reduction that flows from Internet-based customer service. Whatever the purpose, once the goal is clearly defined, we can create the website best suited to get you there. And, we can create tools to measure website performance.
No Prestige Web Solutions site is identical to any other site on the Web. Our job is to make your site look good, be readable, and be easy to navigate. Our creative design, writing, images, audio and video presentations, and interactive elements will make your site stand out.
